Snoring
In children, breathing disorders are linked to TMJ (jaw joint) problems, restless sleep, daytime sleepiness, teeth grinding, hyperactivity, bedwetting, and more. Adults with breathing disorders also have a higher risk of fatigue, cardiovascular disease, mental health issues, and the list goes on.
What causes snoring?
Snoring occurs when the flow of air through the nose or mouth is obstructed during sleep. While this airflow obstruction is typically caused by relaxation and poor muscle tone of the muscles around the throat and jaws, there are many underlying causes of snoring as well as other breathing disorders.
The most common of these are chronic mouth breathing, poor diet, body size and lack of forward development of the jaws. Additionally, orthodontics with extractions can make breathing problems worse.
Myosa® offers both a complete treatment approach with a practitioner as well as self care options, depending on your needs.
